A certificate to show that I have allowed science to happen, on my computer.
This system has been around for years, by sending out pieces of data to be calculated to millions of people, a years worth of computation can happen in days.
The Seti at home project calculates & analyses data from a radio telescope then renders frequency response graphs which correspond to data recorded. In order to find ‘intelligent life’ significant patterns must be found (in resemblance to human speech I would assume) All that I have seen so far is white noise being generated, it’s quite relaxing to watch.
I feel like Jodie Foster in contact… Only not.

Consumables

I think that it is about time that I lay down the rules on consumable goods left at my house.

  1. If rule 2 is not observed; Should I want to eat it, use it or destroy it I probably will.
  2. If you would like me to save the item(s) the proprietor of said goods should verbally request me to do so, specifying the duration of time that the goods are meant to be kept.
  3. If goods are not retrieved within this time-frame, they are fair-game.
  4. If the goods reach their use by date whilst in my custody, regardless of time-frame, they will be consumed.
  5. In the event that the perishables are not already been used up, if a request for an item is made within 3 days by the original owner/purchaser, I shall relinquish ownership unto them.
  6. Re-imbursement may not be requested for any item(s) or resources that have been expended.

I shall not be held accountable for any monetary or emotional losses that may arise from such proceedings.

I apologise to anyone who has previously left items unaware of the terms and conditions that apply. Though I will thank all those who have left particularly tasty items behind for me to munch.

P.S. Forgive me if you think this is unreasonable, but for some reason we seem to accumulate a LOAD of stuff :)

Children are THE future, but getting old is OUR future. Somehow I get the feeling that these children and us are not a part of the same future. Me

Blyk 2

One whole month on and i’m still using the service. It has so far meant that i now take the time to make sure I have my phone on my person - i’m not cheap, I just don’t agree with contracts and find that PAYG rates aren’t worth it. This month (from the 18th of June) I used 115 texts & 43mins which were mostly to other mobiles totaling (approximately, going by Orange’s PAYG tariff) a grand £28.85.

I have experienced no technical difficulties when making calls or sending texts and my reception is almost identical to that of Orange (being as they own the masts that Blyk are letting for the service.)

As for the masses of advertisements I was expecting to receive; I get the occasional one or two, but it’s far from the constant flood I had anticipated. I’d just like to point out that this post was in no way sponsored, I’m just a very satisfied user.

This is what is wrong with Facebook. As far as i’m aware there is no way of getting photographs like the above taken down from someone else’s account. Perhaps I got it wrong, and this girl really doesn’t mind if her network of friends & family see her drunk on a toilet. If there ever was such a thing as privacy, it doesnt exist anymore.
This video is a pretty good example of what real life would be if it were Facebook

I feel inspired.

In response to the following:

oneamongnone:

“Sorry, im getting sick of those anti-piracy adverts.

There’s a difference between loving films and loving film studios.”

———-

Couldn’t agree more.

Here’s a song by Adam and Joe, pretty much summing up the attitude of the general populous towards piracy. Enjoy

Why is it that vanilla is thought so little of?
Vanilla is often thought of as plain and uninteresting. Though real vanilla is actually quite exotic since its plant will only thrive in certain climates. The flower, which it is necessary to pollinate in order for it to grow the pod, stays open for little more than a day making it difficult to tend to. Furthermore the vanilla flavour & aroma is not instantly recognisable. After a hefty stretch of drying out the black vanilla pods which we see are ready for use.
Vanilla has lost its’ status as a luxury item due to the availability of chemically synthesised vanillin, when people refer to mundane/average behaviour or people as vanilla (see vanilla-sex) really they should be saying “oh he/she is so synthesised vanillin” instead. Though it doesnt have the same ring to it.
Whatever your thoughts on it are, you have to admit that the world would be much more plain without it.
Anything which would appear to be ‘factual’ in this post was gathered from the internets, so it is likely that information may be incorrect or may have been misinterpreted.
p.s. the image is mine.
