I was checking out some TVs today at both Comet and Currys and I couldn’t help but notice that the mid-range TVs all looked pretty poor. I checked the specs and in fairness they should have been looking pretty decent.
As I headed further through the television display and got to the higher priced models, all of a sudden the images on display were crisp and clear. The specifications on these TVs were almost identical to those of the mid-range only larger and it was only then that I realised what was going on.

On the cheaper televisions the stores connect standard definition sources to the televisions and high definition sources to the real expensive models, making it impossible for you to make an informed decision on what to buy.

If you head off to buy a TV make sure what you’re seeing is what you are meant to be seeing.

It has recently been heralded as the next big thing in the search engine world.

Well although it has a different way of serving the results actually showing relevant information it is flawed still.

One of their examples to try is $250 +15%
Great, you get the answer $287.50 But the second you change the $ to a £ it fails, it doesn’t understand. Petty perhaps but when searching for info people want fast results from an engine that works.

It does work for a lot of things and it is impressive when it does, it’s just frustrating when you have to refine your searches all the time. It can do intense calculations and other things but fails on some of the simplest searches.

Progressively it seems that my ability to mix band work is getting better and I’m finding it easier to make things sound the way I want them to. Practice really does in this case make perfect, I’m by no means a pro or have any delusions that this track is perfect but I hope that some day if I continue to put in the hours, I’ll be putting out commercial studio quality recordings. And maybe if the music industry hasn’t imploded by then I may be able to support myself on this kind of thing.

(Volume of Fluoride stated as 0.1ppm. Toothpastes generally contain between 850-1,500 ppm (of clinical grade sodium fluoride) And Water in Birmingham contains 4ppm (of hexafluorosilicic acid.) )

The debate over whether to add it to the entire water supply or not is one that rages on, the benefits are not hugely apparent, worth noting is that Fluoride (hexafluorosilicic acid) is an industry by-product of which it is illegal to dump at sea. I personally do not believe that it should be added to the water supply. A Britta filter will not remove this from the water you drink, however it will clear the chlorine out, reason being the activated charcoal. Same stuff they used in the world war 2 gas masks.

Thanks man! I would love to get the firewire one. I was even bidding for one on ebay, forgot the bloody end time and lost it for £100. Gutted! You have inspired me to hold my horses, save some more dosh and get the firewire version. Nice One!

What is your setup? Mine is so cobbled together I decided to make life a lot easier on myself and invest. Hopefully this will give me more time playing and less time jiggling wires about trying to get things working.

My complete setup is:

Yamaha Aw1600 (desk)

Samson 7 piece drum mic kit

Audio Technica at2020

Behringer xm8500 dynamic mic

8x 6m xlr cables

3mic stands

Cubase & FLStudio.

I was lucky enough to get the xlr cables for about a quid each (student discount, a saving of £10 on each cable.)

The desk was a bit costly, but its everything in a box. Though I tend to record first then export the individual tracks to FL studio. Still monitoring with headpphones though :). I thought i’d have to step in over the alesis multimix, after my own disappointments with it.

What do you have cobbled?

My advice to you is to make a not very good 3d film. That way people will watch the drivel that you have created, and even pay an extra 20% on top of what they normally would.

I’m not bitter, I’ve got a Cineworld ‘Unlimited’ pass and a sense of humour. Scar 3d is not a very good film, in any dimension.
